#OPERASI CIVIL DEFENCE FORCE USES EXCAVATOR TO CAPTURE 120KG PYTHON IN PEKAN PEKAN: An excavator had to be deployed to capture a 120kg reticulated python found in a swamp near Tanjung Batu here yesterday. District Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Captain (PA) Ahmad Azmi Nafiah said they were alerted about the 3.6-metre long reptile at about 11am, before a six-member team was dispatched to the site. The python was aggressive and attempted to attack the personnel trying to capture it. Ahmad Azmi said the muddy terrain made the operation challenging, so an excavator was deployed to lift and move the animal out of the swampy area. "It took about an hour to capture the python before it was placed into a metal cage. The reptile was later handed over to the Wildlife and National Parks Department," he said when contacted today.
